This client is one of the member firms of a UK private company. These member firms and each of their related entities, form a global organisation.
As with any company, this member firm of a UK private company experiences various health and safety challenges. The South African offices have a hybrid system in place and therefore some staff are working from home at times. The member firm also needs to ensure that those staff travelling to clients, know which type of challenges they may face during their trips, whether it’s local or international. They have a number of contractors working within their offices on a daily basis. These contractors are being integrated into the client’s health and safety management system.

This member firm of a UK private company aims to maintain a health and safety management system which continuously improves according to the ISO 45001:2018 requirements. They decided to pursue ISO 45001:2018 certification for some of their offices and approached Absolute Health Services to assist them with this task.
The Client’s health and safety aims to provide as much as reasonably practicable, a safe work environment for all employees and protect their clients and other people. They aim to create awareness regarding any hazards associated with the work performed and based on any potential hazards identified, understand the precautionary measures required.

How we assisted our client
Absolute Health Services conducts Occupational Health and Safety training for the client’s offices locally and within the Southern Africa regions. We also assist them with the implementation of their health and safety management systems and we were involved with the ISO 45001:2018 certification for three of their offices within South Africa.
Our health and safety practitioners visit the client’s offices on a regular basis to assist, in conjunction with their management team, in maintaining a workable health and safety management system and all the components that go along with it.

Our Impact
We assisted the client’s management with the ISO 45001:2018 audit process, after which they successfully obtained the certification.
Absolute Health Services also visits the client’s offices on a regular basis to identify any possible areas which may need to be improved. After discussing these areas with the management team, the aim is to action these points as soon as possible to ensure that the gaps are filled quickly and sufficiently.
Regular evacuation drills are held at the various offices where the OHS team practises the skills which they’ve learnt during their training sessions. Whenever a staff member needs medical assistance, the first aiders are the first to respond to assist where needed.
