Course Description
Injuries and medical emergencies can happen anytime, anywhere – including in the workplace. When they do, first aid is a critical element in the chain of survival that can mean the difference between life, disability, and death. In the case of a serious emergency like heavy bleeding or a heart attack, it is critically important that first aid is administered while waiting for paramedics to arrive. Without it, a casualty risks a complicated or delayed recovery, permanent injury, brain damage, or even death.
This is why, under the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act 85 of 1993, any business in South Africa employing more than 10 people is legally required to have a certified First Aider on site during working hours. Basic Emergency First Aid Responder is the new occupational first aid training skills programme accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) and the Department of Employment and Labour (DoEL).
Absolute Health Services’ first aid training blends theoretical learning with hands-on, practical exercises, giving First Aiders the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to act swiftly and effectively in a real emergency.
