Exclusive Tyre:

Exclusive Tyre is one of the main importers and distributors of various local and international tyre brands in South Africa. 

What challenges they faced:

The challenge they faced was that they currently have 17 premises across SA and needed to implement Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) compliance across their company structure and premises. The premises vary from the head office to warehouses and various fitment centres across SA. Sourcing a national OHS supplier that offered comprehensive OHS services, such as training, equipment supply and management services was required.       

What are the OHS goals:

Exclusive Tyre’s overall goal was to improve their existing OHS status and aim to achieve an overall OHS compliance status across their whole business structure. This would be achieved by:

  • Implementing a suitable national OHS management system which included policy documentation, training, risk assessments and emergency evacuation drills; 

  • Creating a healthy, safe and prepared workplace environment for everyone;

  • Sourcing and partnering with a reputable and accredited OHS service provider to assist and together implement and manage OHS successfully; 

  • Continuously improving the OHS system to the benefit and wellbeing of everyone working at Exclusive Tyre. 

How Absolute Health Services is assisting Exclusive Tyre: 

An OHS plan with supporting objectives has been developed and will be implemented over the next 18 months. This will continuously improve the OHS and emergency preparedness status at Exclusive Tyre. 

OHS baseline risk assessments and OHS equipment assessments have been completed on all the Exclusive Tyre premises, with results and recommendations on how to mitigate and implement suggested controls that need to be implemented for the identified hazards and risks at each of their premises.

A training programme has been drafted after the completion of the baseline risk assessment where the various training requirements have been identified. These training sessions will be conducted at the 3 x Absolute Health Services training centres in Fourways, Durban and Cape Town as well as Exclusive Tyre Head Office based in Reuven, Johannesburg.

OHS policy documentation is continuously being developed to ensure that the management system is thorough, applicable, and current. 

Different OHS objectives and outcomes will be implemented as the project commences month by month.

The commencement of services and positive OHS progress made to date has resulted in an improved OHS compliance status, with the aim and objective to continuously improve and maintain high standards of OHS as the project commences as well as creating a healthy, safe and prepared environment for everyone.
