Course Description
Accidents and life-threatening medical emergencies can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. How quickly and effectively first aid is administered can mean the difference between life and death, and have a profound impact on how well a patient recovers from a serious injury or illness.
That’s why the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act 85 of 1993 requires all employers in South Africa to have trained First Aiders available in the workplace. To be legally compliant, first aid training must be provided by an accredited training provider approved by the Department of Employment and Labour (DoEL).
Our Basic First Aid (Level 1) course meets the legal requirements for first aid training set out by the OHS Act. Absolute Health Services is accredited by the Health and Welfare Sector Education Training Authority (HWSETA), the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) and the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa (RCSA), and is approved by the DoEL as a first aid training provider. This Basic First Aid (Level 1) course is aligned to the requirements of QCTO SP-203801 and is suitable for all workplaces’ first aid compliance requirements.
Presented by experienced paramedics, this course is taught using a blend of theory and practical, hands-on exposure. This means that every delegate will have the opportunity to practice critical skills including CPR, bleeding control, fracture splinting, choking treatment, and putting an unconscious casualty into the recovery position. This hands-on practice is vital for learning the correct first aid skills and techniques and building practical confidence. . .
